What’s in Turner’s diaper bag?

We’ve started to take Turner out to brunches and church.  Our routine is pretty good and with our car seat getting him in and out of the car is not a problem.   One thing that has been bothering me is the diaper bag.  Specifically, I wonder if we have everything in there.  I started doing some searches online to see what we should pack.  I want to be prepared but don’t want to have the bag overcrowded.  With that said, here is a good list of recommended items.  Tori and I will probably modify to suit Turner / our needs but overall it looks pretty good.
When it comes to diapers, everyone says take more than you think you'll need, as many as one for every hour of your outing.  Luckily we only go out for 2hr intervals but we have about 10 in there – just in case.  We also have a small box of wipes. Personally, I think we could use more of these but I don’t want to carry them.  We also have a foldaway changing pad.  We have both a blanket and a burp cloth.   Most sites say that we should bring two burp clothes so we might take that advice.
In terms of clothing, we have an extra shirt, pants, and pair of socks for baby.  I’m also going to add a sweater since its pretty cold for the next few months.   We’re starting to travel with at least 1 bottle too.  We plan to stay out for only 2hrs but you never know.   We also have two toys with us, although Turner will probably be more curious about his environment.   We also travel with two pacifiers and wipes to clean them.
All of the above mentioned items were already in his bag.  Now some new things we learned were to include a few large plastic bags for sealing and tossing dirty diapers or for taking home soiled clothes.  We are also going to include our business cards in case the bag gets lost.  Lastly, and probably most important, we are going to start carrying an index card with numbers for the pediatrician, a his god parents, and other emergency contacts.
What are we missing?  Let us know in the comments section.

  1. In addition to your list we've added a bottle of water and a few snacks for mom, travel size hand sanitizer & diaper rash ointment as well.

  2. A water bottle would be a good addition as well as the hand sanitizer. Thanks Nina!
